Shower Regrouting Without a Remodel
Central Jersey Grout & Tile Restoration regrouts tiled showers across Central NJ, replacing cracked, stained, and moldy grout so the tile you already own looks new again in one day.
Wet-zone regrouts: $700 to $800 flat rate
Why grout fails long before tile does
Porcelain and ceramic tile can last for decades. The cement grout between them is the weak link. It is porous, it absorbs soap and body oils, and every shower pushes water into it. Over time it darkens, sprouts mildew that bleach cannot reach, shrinks away from the tile edge, and eventually cracks. Once water gets behind failed grout, it reaches the backer board, and that is when a cosmetic problem becomes an expensive one.
What a full shower regrout includes
We do not smear new grout over old grout. That approach peels within months. Instead we mechanically grind out the existing grout joints to a consistent depth, vacuum the debris, and then run 220°F dry vapor steam through every joint to kill mold and lift residue. New grout is packed into clean, sound joints, then color sealed or upgraded to epoxy depending on the shower. We finish by replacing the caulk at every change of plane with commercial grade silicone.
Who regrouting is right for
Regrouting is the right call when the tile itself is sound: no hollow sounding tiles, no soft spots in the wall, no widespread cracking. If your shower is structurally fine but looks tired, dingy, or moldy, regrouting gives you the visual result of new construction without the demolition, the dumpster, or weeks without a bathroom. If we see signs of hidden water damage in your photos or on site, we will tell you plainly rather than sell you a cosmetic fix.
One visit, flat price
