Backsplash grout stains in predictable places

Behind the range, grout absorbs cooking oil and turns amber. Behind the sink, it takes constant splash and soap. Because backsplash grout is often unsealed from the start, those stains go deep and do not come out with degreaser.

How we restore a backsplash

Countertops, outlets, and appliances are protected first. We remove stained or cracked grout, clean the joints with 220°F dry vapor steam to cut grease without harsh solvents, and install fresh grout followed by a color seal. The joint where the backsplash meets the countertop is a movement joint, so it gets a fresh bead of silicone instead of grout.

Kitchens are the most visible room in many homes, and a clean backsplash makes the entire kitchen look better maintained. Backsplash work is usually a few hours and can be added to a bathroom visit.
