Epoxy Grout for Showers That See Heavy Use
Central Jersey Grout & Tile Restoration installs epoxy grout in showers and wet areas where ordinary cement grout keeps staining, cracking, or growing mold.

Epoxy versus cement grout
Cement grout is porous by nature and depends on sealer to resist water. Epoxy grout is a two part resin system that cures into a dense, non porous joint. It does not need periodic resealing, it resists stains from shampoo and hair dye, and it gives mold far less to grow on. The trade off is that epoxy is harder to install correctly, which is why it is often avoided by general handymen.
How we install it
Epoxy needs clean, deep, dry joints. We grind out the old grout, steam sanitize at 220°F, and let the joints dry before mixing epoxy in small batches. Working time is short, so the shower is grouted and cleaned in sections, with the haze removed from the tile face before it cures. Changes of plane are left open and finished with commercial silicone so the epoxy is not forced to absorb movement.
When epoxy is worth it
Epoxy makes the most sense in primary showers used every day, in showers with recurring mold, in steam showers, and in homes where nobody wants to think about resealing. For a guest bath used a few times a month, a quality cement grout with a color seal is usually the better value. We will tell you which we recommend after seeing your photos.
How epoxy is priced
Epoxy costs more in material and labor than cement grout, so we quote it as an upgrade on top of the wet-zone regrout price. You will see both options side by side before you decide.
